Flyttkaos

Vi håller ju som sagt på och fixar med våran nya gård. Det är MYCKET kvar att göra, men vi kommer ändå att flytta dit i sommar!

Först skulle hästarna gå kvar så länge som möjligt på nuvarande plats men när det kom en ny hyresgäst som var i stort behov av att komma in så fort som möjligt med ett antal hästar blev det till att försöka lösa det på bästa sätt.

Därför flyttar hästarna ett tag före resten av familjen.

Just nu ser flyttschemat ut enligt följande, men saker har en tendens att behöva ändras ofta:

·         Bunny och Calinka flyttar hem till Maria redan om en vecka. Hennes granne har ett par mindre hagar så de kan säkert gå där någon månad medan Bunny fölar. (Det är därför jag inte får fler föl på Ekenäs). Det är så nära att vi kan gå dit på någon timme. Då kan jag och Maria hålla kolla på fölningen och så får de flytta till övriga ston när fölet är fött och orkar en transport.

·         Percy, Eddie, Iris och Whizzy flyttar någon knapp vecka senare till gården, eller snarare till mina föräldrars beten som ligger nära gården. Här kan de gå och äta gräs hela sommaren. Som tur är kan pappa räkna in dem och jag har ett par mer hästkunniga vänner i närheten som kan se till dem lite noggrannare.

·         Pepper blir kvar på Ekenäs medan han har ston på betäckning så att jag kan ha koll. Hade han fått plats hos Maria hade han fått följa med dit, men jag tror inte gräset räcker för det. Han flyttar till Ullekalv när mina egna ston behöver betäckas.

Rörigt? Inte alls. Tror faktiskt det blir ganska bra att inte behöva köra alla hästarna på en och samma gång utan ta det vid några olika tillfällen – det tar ungefär en timme med transport i vardera riktning och så ska det lastas och lastas av.

Soon some of my horses is going to be in a part of this pasture.

Dessutom visar det sig (som alltid vid flytt) att man har mycket mer saker än vad man tror. Även där har jag passat på att flytta lite saker i taget, men det finns fortfarande mycket kvar. Och så var det hela boningshuset….

Moving chaos

As I have written about earlier we are working on our new farm. There is still A LOT to do, but we move there this summer!

First the horses were supposed to stay as long as possible at their current location. But, luckily there came a person that needed the place and that needs to move in quickly with many horses. So, we are trying to solve everything for the best.

That is why the horses move before the rest of the family.

Right now everything is schedule like this, but things tend to change fast:

Bunny and Calinka move to Maria in about a week. Her neighbour has two smaller pastures that is going to last for them for about a month while Bunny has her foal. (That’s why I won’t have any more foals at Ekenäs). It isn’t far away so we walk over there in an hour or so. That makes it possible to keep an eye during the foaling. When foal is strong enough they move to the other mares.

Percy, Eddie, Iris and Whizzy moves about a week later to our new place, or more precisely to my parents big summer pastures that are very close by. They have grass to eat her all summer. Luckily my father can count them in and a couple of friends that live in the area can watch them closer.

Pepper stays at Ekenäs as he have dates to serve. Had there been space at Maria he would have stayed there but I don’t think the grass is enough. He moves to Ullekalv when he needs to charm my mares.

Chaos? Not at all. Actually I think it is going to be good to move the horses a little at the time as it takes about an hour between the places. Of course it means that I won’t see some of them as much as I usually do – but with a lot to eat they probably aren’t sorry. And, usually you find that you have so much more stuff to move that this time in between is well needed to manage to do so. So, I try to move things all the time, even if there still is so much more to move.
