This is how to encourage them – a long whip.
Igår kom årets första snö och idag var jag och barnen upp i stallet. Isac ville inte göra något med hästarna men jag övertalade honom så att vi lekte lite med dem löst i en del av ena hagen. Pepper busade glatt runt först och Isac fotade med min telefon. Stona däremot… de hade inte mycket lust att springa.

First snow

Yesterday came this years first snow and today the kids and I visited the horses. Isac didn’t want to work the horses but I got him into playing with them in a part of the pasture. Pepper ran around happily and Isac used my phone to get photos. The mares on the other hand… didn’t run much at all.
No, the horses aren’t afraid – they comes forward to say hello easily and voluntarily.

Probably the only ass picture that I ever is going to post. David needs his own whip – otherwise he tries to steal mine and screams. On the other hand he drops his own everywhere.. And apparently I try to show Pepper at what direction I want him to move.

Regn, blåst & barn

Calinka don’t like to walk on the wood…
I måndags blåste det så kraftigt att jag funderade på att låta bli att jobba någon häst – oftast ger det ändå inget om de inte kan koncentrera sig p.g.a. vinden. Calinka fick komma ut på lite dressyr, men det blev också det.
Percy fick kiropraktorbesök i tisdags eftersom hon uppförst sig konstigt på sistone. Mycket riktigt hade hon ett par rejälare låsningar. Nu hoppas jag bara att det var anledningen.
Idag bara regnade det och jag skulle upp med barnen. Efter mycket letande hittade jag regnkläder till alla och vi kom iväg. Isac red Calinka och “hoppade” för första gången. Travar gör han med, även om han inte verkar ha fått ordning på det här med lättridning riktigt ännu.  Sedan tog vi ut Bunny och gjorde samma sak, men gick även över diken. Då bestämde sig Bunny för att göra ett hopp, men Isac satt kvar bra! Kul att se framsteg!

Rain, wind & kids

First jump!
During Monday it was very windy and I thought that maybe I shouldn’t work any horse – it usually don’t make much sense if they can’t concentrate because of the wind. But. I brought CAlinka for some dressage work.
Percy got a visit from the chiropractor at Tuesday as she has behaved strange lately. She had some blockings, so I hope that gets her back to normal.
Today it rained most of the dayand I had to bring the kids. After some searching I found waterproof clothes for all of us and we took of. Isac rode Calinka and “jumped” for the first time. He trots as well, even if he hasn’t really got it with posting.  The we brought Bunny for the same thing, but also crossed ditches. Then Bunny decided to jump – but Isac stayed in the saddle. Nice to see the progress!

Barnen med i stallet

Igårkväll red jag ut på Percy i mörkret själv – lite läskigt först tyckte hon, men också skoj. Oj vad hon börjar gilla att vara ute den hästen.

Idag var hovslagaren förbi och båda barnen med. Sedan ville Isac rida och valde Percy för en tur. Hon ville bara trava (just nu verkar hon nästan glömt tölten, hon som tidigare aldrig gjorde något annat) och han försökte lära sig att rida lätt. Det gick väll sådär, men, men. Kul hade vi, vädret var underbart! Hade glömt hur skoj det kunde vara med barnen i stallet även om det blev lite gnäll när David inte fick bada i hästarnas vattenbalja.
Dessutom snickrade vi till någon sorts grind som borde gå att ha vid hoppträning. Tidigare på dagen hade jag och David fixat med en vattenmatta. Ska bli kul att se hästarnas reaktioner!

Yesterday evening I trail rode Percy in the darkness that she found a bit scary to start with, but also fun.She really wants to go that mare!
Today the farrier visited and I had both children with me. The Isac wanted to ride and chose Percy. She only wanted to trot (right now she seems to have lost her gait, she that never did anything else before) so he trained to post.Maybe not the biggest success, but he’ll get it and the weather was wonderful! I had forgot how nice it can be to bring the children even if David wasn’t happy when I didn’t allow him to bath in the horses water bucket.
We also made a kind of fence to jump. Earlier David and I have finished a water mat that I have been working on for a long time. Looking forward to the horses reactions!
Percy wanted to have the stroller close and “stole” it some times with David in it. Later she nearly felt asleep like this – but opened her eyes when I took the photo.
 

Sadelresa med baby

Igår var jag och David på utflykt största dleen av dagen. Vi åkte 3 timmar bort för att hämta hem en ny sadel till Percy. En Maxflex Fina Island. Jag hade läst en del på nätet och tyckte att den nog borde kunna passa. Råkar man då hitta precis vad man söker, storlek så väl som färg var det bara att slå till och ge sig av på utflykt. Tack och lov var David på bra humör nästan hela resan – även om han var vaken mycket.
Idag testade i sadlen coh den verkar lovande. Verkar sitta bra på både Pepper och Percy och jag tror nog den kan fungera på Calinka med. Tacksamt med 3 hästar som är ganska lika i ryggen (även om Percy är kortare i ryggen och Calinka har mer manke). Med lite mer ridning visar det sig om det är så bra som jag hoppas.

Saddleshopping with baby

Yesterday David and I went for a road trip. We went 3 hours to get a saddle for Percy. A Maxflex Fina Icelandic. I had read about at the internet and thought that it would be a good match. When I found it at internet in the right size and color I bought it and went to get it. Luckily David was in a good mood most of the trip.
Today I tested the saddle and it seems promising. It seems to suit both Pepper and Percy and maybe even Calinka. It is good with 3 horses with a similar back (even if Percy has a shorter back and Calinka larger withers). With some more riding I know for sure that it fits.
