För ett par veckor sedan skickade jag in hår på analys för PSSM. Jag ville veta hur det stod till med mina hästar och väntade inte på att RMHA ska få ordning på “sitt program” för hur man ska hantera problemet. Vad jag förstår handlar det främst om att de vill hitta ett sätt där man kan garantera att hästen man testar är den man säger att det är; dvs att taglet man testar är verifierat mot härstamningen och inte “vilket tagel som helst “. Då har det även pratats om att man ska kunna föra in resultatet i databasen där härstammning och ägare finns. Självklart tar sådant tid!
I alla fall, jag skickade in tagel och har nu fått svar. Alla mina hästar är fria från PSSM! Jag testade Pepper, Percy, Bunny och Tea. Därmed kan jag säkert säga att både Embla och Mira inte heller är bärare eftersom ingen av deras föräldrar är det. Så skönt!
Än så länge verkar det som om många som testat sina hästar efter att det uppmärksammades att PSSM finns inte har haft individer med PSSM. Förhoppningsvis är alltså väldigt få Rockys drabbade.
PSSM results
A couple of weeks ago I sent hair samples for PSSM analysis. I wanted to know how my horses were doing and stopped waiting for RMHA to get their program about PSSM up. What I understand they are trying to secure that PSSM tests analyzed really are from the said horse by parentage verification. I understand that it takes time to achieve that. They have also been talking about that if they get that set up they could ad the info in the pedigree database.
Anyway, I sent hair samples to be analyzed and now I got the results. All my horses are PSSM free! I tested Pepper, Percy, Bunny and Tea. With the results I got I can also say that both Embla and Mira is PSSM free as neither of their parents are.
So far it seems as most people that has been testing their horses has had PSSM negative results – the horses don’t have the disease. Hopefully very few Rockys carry the PSSM gene.
OK, nu är papprena insända till RMHA inför registrering av fölen så att jag sedan kan fixa svenska pass åt dem. De här är bilderna som RMHA fick med, inte helt lätt att fota när alla hästar var i hagen (kunde just den dagen inte plocka in dem pga målning av stallet).
OK, now the paperwork for the registration of the foals is sent in to RMHA. When they get back I can get Swedish passports for them. This is the pictures that I sent in with the applications. Not the best but it wasn’t easy to photo with all horses in the pasture. (Couldn’t bring them indoors as the stable was painted that day).
