Den här sommaren har hästarna inte fått göra mycket. De har mest betat och levt livet i flocken. Jag tror de trivs ganska bra med det, men vissa skulle behöva sysselsättas lite: 2 åringarna.  De är överallt mest hela tiden. Ska alltid tränga sig in mellan övriga hästar, lägga mulen i blöt och gärna tugga på det man inte vill att de ska tugga på om man lägger ifrån sig något för att fokusera på något annat en kort stund. Att det inte bara är jag som tycker de är lite jobbiga stundvis hintar alla märken de har på kroppen efter tänder och hovar. Övriga hästar verkar ha jobb med att uppfostra dem, men än har de inte lyckats helt.

The 2 year olds

The horses hasn’t been working much this summer. Mostly grazing and living in the herd. I think they like that rather well, but some need some more stimulation: the 2 year olds. They are everywhere most of the time. Always getting in between the other horses, put their noses into everything and likely chewing on everything that you leave around for a second while turning your attention to something else and don’t want them to destroy. It is not only me that think they are a bit too much. They have a lot of scares on their bodys from teeth and hooves. Seems as the grown ups try to get them to behave but apparently they haven’t succeeded totally yet.

There is Orchidea in the pasture (Nattviol and Jungfru Marie Nycklar)

Idag fick Whizzy, Bunny och Zeb flytta till Ullekalv och övriga ston. Första vändan körde jag Whizzy.

Bunny och Zeb brydde sig knappt om att hon försvann och lastades även lätt när jag kom tillbaka. Skönt, för det känns alltid lite extra knöligt med sto och föl. Tur att Maria hanterat Zeb så mycket att han inte tyckte det var alltför obehagligt att bli inknuffad i transporten och fasthållen medan mamma Bunny klev på.

Först fick Bunny och Zeb gå bredvid de övriga en stund för att hinna landa efter resan (som tog en knapp timme). Nu i kväll fick de gå in till de andra. Härligt med en så stor flock samlade – 7 hästar. Ofta har jag mina delade mera för att alla ska få sällskap.

It seems as Percy let everyone care about her daughter now.

Nu är det bara Pepper kvar på Ekenäs och det dröjer inte så länge innan han med flyttar. Ska bli skönt att ha alla hästar på ett ställe. Dessutom kommer de snart att få större hage. Kvigorna som går i ena delen kommer att åka hem och mina hästar att få tillgång till den delen med.

Horses at only two places

Today Whizzy, Bunny and Zeb moved to Ullekalv and the other mares. Whizzy went first. Bunny and Zeb didn’t care much but got easily on the trailer when I returned. Good, because so far I always get a little more tense when it is both mare and foal that is going on the trailer. Luckily Maria has handled Zeb so much that he hadn’t any problem with us pushing him onboard and holding him there until Bunny had entered.

At the arrival Bunny and Zeb first got to stay close to the others to settle a little after the trip (it took a little less than an hour). In the evening they got to join the others. Nice with a herd of horses – 7 horses. I rarely have so many together at once as they often are parted in two groups so everyone get company.

Now is only Pepper left at Ekenäs and it wont be that long before he moves as well. It is going to be so good to get all horses at one place again. And they soon get a bigger pasture as well. The cows in the other part is soon going home and then my horses go over there as well.

Riddarspel

I helgen var det dags för de årliga riddarspelen på Ekenäs – 25 år jubileum. Mina hästar tog det hela med ro. Men både Iris och Whizzy tyckte det var lite konstigt som området ändrats när vi var ute och kollade dagarna innan. Fast Iris reagerade mest på shetlandsponnyn som stod i en hage. Nyttig miljöträning för djuren och väldigt bra för mig att se hur de reagerar i den typen av miljö. Whizzy var först spänd, men slappnade av oväntat fort. Iris har varit med lite fler gånger och var initialt lugnare.

Jousting games

Last weekend was Jousting games weekend at Ekenäs. Celebrating 25 years this year.. My horses didn’t bother much. Both Iris and Whizzy found it strange that the a rea had transformed so much when we looked at it a day before the games begun. But what bothered Iris the most was the Shetland pony that she saw. Anyway it is a good training possibility and for me to see how they react in this kind of environment.Whizzy was tense at first but cooled down rather quickly. Iris has seen it once more and was more relaxed from the beginning.

Bus och rull

Mitt i “buspass” är det inte ovanligt att någon av hästarna lägger sig ner och rullar för att sedan åter hoppa upp och fara omkring.

 

In the middle of play isn’t it unusual that a horse roll to then get up and continue to run around.

Eftersom Percy mest står och verkar drömma i hagen, drar sig undan lite mer än vanligt och det faktiskt inte är en månad kvar till beräknad fölning tänkte jag att hon inte behövde vara med. Calinka är inte alltid överförtjust så det vore nyttigt “för de små” att på egen hand få leka i hagen. Ledde därför ner Iris och Whizzy till “bushagen”, men precis när jag höll på att släppa dem där kom Calinka stormande in genom grinden (som ännu inte var stängd) och Percy var inte sen att hänga på. Så, tja, alla ville vara med och Calinka var nog den som skuttade mest ovan marken… Men även Percy höll ett bra tempo och for runt en hel del.

The girls play

As Percy mostly stands and seems to be dreaming and wants to be more alone than usual and there is less than a month to her planned delivery so I thought she would prefer to rest. Calinka sometimes like to play, but not always so I thought it would be good for the young ones so play on their own. Therefore I led both to the “play pasture”, but when I was getting the halters of Calinka came storming in and shortly after Percy arrived as well as I haven’t had time to close the gate just yet. So, as everyone wonted to participate they got to do that and probably Calinka was the one with her hoofs least in contact with the ground. But Percy keept up pretty well to…
